Sri Nampally Baba

Sadguru Sri Namapally Baba

***   Digambara Digambara Sri Nampally Baba Digamabara ***

About Baba:
Who is this Baba?  From where he is, no one knows. His actual name and his birth, his parents, no details are known. In 1945, he was first seen at a burial ground near malakpet railway station, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. He always used to be in a blissful state and never used to speak with anyone. At times he used to wet himself under the tap, then sleep on a small wall in the burial ground. He used to talk to himself,  laugh, sometimes look at sky and do some gestures. Most of the people thought that he was a beggar. But there were a few blessed people, by this time only identified him as an avadoota. People were astonished with the divine fragrance coming from Baba, even though he hadn't taken his bath for many days. In 1972 Baba had an accident and was admitted to Osmania Hospital, where his leg was amputated. After this incident baba disappeared from the hospital and no information was available about him. After that no one saw him till 1980.

In 1980, he was seen again at the corridor of  Nampally Police Station. Hence onwards people used to call him as nampally baba. There are various instances which took place at this place. Even ministers, higher officials, businessmen and all sorts of people used to visit Baba and took his blessings. Around 1987 Baba had been shifted to Sri sravan kumar house at gowlipura, charminar.  At gowlipura also, there were lot of miracles happening and as usual baba used to encourage and emphasize people coming to him to participate in the Satyanaraya vrat performed in his presence. And last six years he stayed at Vivekanada Nagar, kukatpally before Samadhi.

Baba left his physical body on November 6, 2004, and his body was put as samadhi near dharmapuri kshetra.

Sri Sivenesan Swami of Shirdi used to tell the devotees from hyderabad visiting Shirdi Sai Baba," You need not come this far to visit Sai Baba, he is already there in the form of Shri Nampally Baba. If you visit him, then you have visited Shirdi Sai Baba". Pujya Sri Ekkirala Bharadwaja Master used to encourage many devotees going to hyderabad to visit Shri Nampally Baba and take his blessings. If one reads the charitra of Nampally Baba, there are various instances of devotees from hyderabad to whom Shri Shirdi Sai Baba himself appeared in the dream and told them that right now he is present in hyderabad in the form of Shri Nampally Baba and asked them to seek his blessings.

Devotees had various personal experiences while Baba was physically present. Even today also devotees are having many experiences at his samadhi. He is answering to his devotees from his Samadhi only like Shri Sai Baba. To one of his devotees, he told, this is the 6th avatar.  1) Sripada Srivallabha 2) Sri Narasimha Saraswathi 3) Akkalkot Maharaj 4) Manik Prabhu 5) Shirdi Sai Baba are the 5 avatars of Shri Dattatreya, and Shri Nampally Baba is saying that this is the 6th avatar.

Devotees of Baba say that if one visits his Samadhi with faith and regularity, all their wishes are fulfilled. One has to visit the Samadhi to feel and experience about Shri Nampally Baba. For further information and to know the life story of Baba one has to read his charitra which can be taken at dharmapuri kshetra.

At Samadhi Mandir:
a) Pradaskshina b) Parayana c) Cigarette Lighting d) Aarati e) Satyanarayana Swamy Vratham f) Annadanam  g)  Coconut Offering to Dhuni.

Pradakshina
Devotees does pradakshina to the samadhi of Shri Nampally baba. There are so many instances where people with troubles in personal life, professional life etc got relieved from their troubles or sufferings by doing the pradakshinas to baba samadhi. There is no specific number one has to do, but usually people do 108 pradakshinas. It is not the count, but the faith and devotion with which the pradakshinas are done.

Cigarette Lighting
Then there are people who offer cigarettes to baba. When baba used to  be in his physical form, he used to smoke cigarettes. It is devotees experience that he never accepted the food or cigarette from everyone whoever comes to him, but in case if he accepts either food or cigarette from some devotee, then his problem or trouble or suffering would usually get solved. It is the strong belief of devotees that baba smokes their cigarette and their problem gets solved. It is also astonishing that if one lights the cigarette and places in front of baba, the cigarette automatically burns out as if some person is smoking the cigarette. Someone may get doubt what kind of baba is this, who smokes a cigarette?. But to experience one has to visit and see for themselves. It is not only troubles or sufferings, even if one is facing any sort of difficulties in their spiritual progress they can definitely get the solution if one visits baba samadhi. The results of visiting baba samadhi depends entirely on the person and the faith with which he or she visits.

Parayana
Apart from this devotees do parayana inside baba samadhi mandir. Baba himself has given assurance to his devotees, that "whoever does parayana of Sri Gurucharitra in my presence, he will be blessed with guru darshana and guru grace". It is also a known fact that the results for parayana done at various locations is as such. If a person does parayana in his home, the result will be normal. If the same parayana is done in a temple, the result will be tenfold, and if the same is done on the banks of a river, it will be hundred fold, and if the same is done in the presence of a sadguru, the result will be thousandfold. Such is the greatness of the sadguru, that the results done for the parayana will be immediately graced upon the person doing the parayana. So it is good for those who are visiting baba samadhi mandir, to plan in such a way that they do parayana of the guru charitra (may be of Sri Guru or their own Guru) in the samadhi mandir.

Aarti
Shri Saibaba used to encourage people coming to him to attend aarti, and it is custom to perform 4 times aarti in Shri Saibaba mandirs. And participating in a group performing aarti, slowly the devotion develops in the person. It is the same at Shri Nampally Baba Samadhi Mandir. Here also aarti is performed 4 times in a day. One can feel the divinity and bliss, if one attends the aarti in the presence of baba. One has to experience it and words are less to describe it.

Satyanarayan Swamy Vratham
Baba used to make all the devotees whoever come to him to perform satyanarayana swamy vratham in his presence. The same is being continued even after baba taking samadhi. Every pournima or full moon day this vratham is being conducted and devotees come in large numbers and participate in this event and get the blessings of Baba.

Annadanam
Annadanam or feeding (animals, humans etc) is the greatest act which all the datta avatars have encouraged whoever came to them. Every living being will have hunger, some may ask and some may not be able to ask. So it is the responsibility of those who have enough to share with those who are not that fortunate. And this is the easiest path to get the grace of guru, because it is the guru who is in all the forms. So one can perform feeding at the samadhi mandir to get the grace of  Baba.

Coconut Offering to Dhuni
When SaiBaba was in his physical form at shirdi, one day a devotee asked him, Baba, what is the significance of dhuni, and baba answered him that "Whoever offers a coconut to dhuni, his bad karma will burnt out which has been acting as an obstruction in his prosperity". We can see that the dhuni which had been lit by baba in Shirdi is continuously  burning till date. And the udi coming from the dhuni is acting as a magical potion which cures the devotees of so many ailments and other problems. After Baba Maha Samadhi also, Sri Sivanesan Swami, who devoted his entire life in Baba Seva,  encouraged so many people coming to shirdi to offer a  coconut to dhuni. So people visiting this shrine is better to offer a coconut at this dhuni as Nampally Baba is none other than Shirdi Saibaba for all those who believe and had experienced it.

Let everyone visit this shrine and get the blessings of Baba.

MEANING OF GURUSTOTRAM

1. I Prostrate to that Sadguru, the Brahman, who is bliss, who is the giver of supreme happiness, who is absolute knowledge who is beyond the pairs of opposites, who is vast like the ether, who is
attainable through assertions like “Tat Twam Asi”, who is one, eternal, pure and changeless, who is the witness of all the states of the mind, who transcends modifications, who is devoid of the three modes (of Prakriti).

2. I prostrate to that Sadguru, who has no beginning, no middle, no end, no hands, no feet, no name, no lineage, no class, no caste, no colour, who is neither male nor female, who has no form, no change, no birth, no virtue, no vice, no elements of creation, who is the one Truth, who is the natural homogeneous Essence.

3. I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who is himself Brahma, Vishnu and God Maheshwara, and who is verily the Supreme Absolute Itself.

4. I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who is pure Consciousness, eternal, peaceful, beyond ether,
spotless and beyond sound, space and time.

5. I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who has opened with the collyrium stick of knowledge, the eyes of him who was rendered blind by the darkness of ignorance.

6. I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who pervades the movable and the immovable universe as an unbroken  infinitude of form, and who has shown the state of That (Brahman).

7. I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who pervades the whole universe constituting of beings, sentient and
insentient, movable and immovable and by whom is shown the truth of the word “That” (Brahman).

8. I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who pervades as consciousness of beings, movable and immovable in three worlds and by whom is revealed the truth of the word “Art” in the Mahaavaakya: “That thou Art”.

the world, and whose Bliss is the happiness of all beings.

10. I prostrate to that Sri Guru, who is the eternally true, austere and absolute knowledge personified.

11. The Guru alone is the whole world including the worlds of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Nothing exists that is superior to the Guru. Hence the Guru is to be worshipped.

12. He whose devotion to the Lord is supreme, and who has as much devotion to the Guru as to the Lord, unto him, one with that high soul, the meaning of the sacred texts stand revealed.

13. I prostrate to that Sri Guru, my Lord, who is the Lord of the entire universe, who is my Guru and world teacher, the Indweller in me as well as the universe.

14. The form of the Guru is the basis of meditation, the feet of the Guru are the basis of worship, the
words of the Guru are the basis of Mantra, the Grace of the Guru is the basis of liberation.

15. Om. Prostration to the Guru, who is Shiva (bliss and auspiciousness), who is the embodiment of
Existence-Knowledge-Bliss, who is beyond world-consciousness, who is peaceful, without any support and self-effulgent.

16. The sacred waters used for washing the feet of the Guru should be drunk for the sake of destruction of the root of ignorance, for removing birth and death and the effects of Karma, and for the attainment of knowledge and dispassion.

taintless, eternally awake as pure conciousness and bliss.

20. Salutations to Brahma, Vasishtha, Shakti, Parasara, Vyasa, Suka, Gaudapada the majestic,
Govindapada, the mighty Yogin whose disciple was the effulgent Shankara.

21. And his great disciples Padmapaada, Trotaka, Hastaamalaka, and Suresvara who wrote a wide
commentary of Shankara’s Advaita.
